This week I was lucky enough to be invited to attend the Next bloggers event which showcased their S/S homeware collections. After dressing inappropriately for a small blizzard that took place in Cardiff, we met up with Next's staff at their Home store in Leckwith, Cardiff for a tour of the store and a talk about the main themes in the collection. I have to say, as a homeware and Pinterest interiors addict that I've always loved Next's stock but have not really invested my time there as I always thought it was out of my budget. While the furniture is decently priced (but still out of my price range for now) their collections of soft furnishings, candles, lighting and trinkets are actually extremely fairly priced. I feel this could now be quite dangerous for what's remaining of my bank balance.
I fell in love with their promenade range, full of beige, white, sky blue and duck egg shades that compliment each other perfectly and would fit in so well with the 'shabby chic' (I really dislike that term) vibe I have at home. The range is all complimentary without being too matchy matchy so you could really get away with picking up three random pieces and having them all look coordinated without going overboard. The collection sets are all in store as they are on the advert which is a well thought out touch so you know what you've seen you can buy (except the beautiful men and adorable dog - apparently you can't have them). The spaces look so well put together that it's difficult trying to pick a favourite item as you just want it all to look as perfect as that space. I fell in love with quite a few pieces that no doubt I'll be picking up in the next few weeks and we all treated ourselves to a few bits from the new collection that will be adorning my office. You'll see them as I'll be spamming photos of my space in the next week or so.
You can find the advert here for pooch and homeware goodness.
From the Home store we ended up at St David's Hotel & Spa in Cardiff Bay. Let me tell you, it was beautiful. From the suite which was the most luxurious suite I've ever set foot in to the tasteful decor to the beautiful wraparound views of Cardiff Bay; you should just go visit, alright? We watched a behind the scenes DVD of the advert which I was extremely interested in. I have friends who are actors and filmmakers and could listen to them go on for hours about their work so to see behind the scenes footage of how a lot of planning and retakes come together is thrilling for me. Especially when it comes with the perks of being offered manicures by three of the spa's therapists and the most beautiful smoked salmon and scones with clotted cream that I had ever tasted. I'm not exaggerating here as the food was absolutely phenomenal.
While the event itself was the best I'd had the pleasure to attend, the people were fantastic too. While chatting with old blogger friends I got to meet new people and the PR's from Next are the friendliest and most interesting I've encountered. Hats off to Next for this because at a lot of events the PR's are too busy or disinterested to mingle but all I saw were the PR's actually talking to us, taking an interest, discussing the products and brand, answering any questions we had and generally just doing a bang up job. Below are all the bloggers that I got to meet both again and for the first time so you should definitely go check out the local talented writers as they really are a friendly bunch.
